British spiritual writer and visual artist Caryll Houselander believed that “The law of growth is rest.”
At first glance it sounds backwards. We usually assume that the law of growth is effort, discipline, or constant activity.
Houselander suggests the opposite: that genuine growth requires periods of rest. Please join us for an examination of this concept and what we can learn from the way trees thrive through alternating periods of dormancy and growth.
