The emperor has no clothes – and we all agree he is wearing something – that is a collective lie. Why do we do it? Why do we agree that there is something there when our eyes and hearts know there is a problem? Why is speaking about a problem like race, even to ourselves, so very difficult? Being radically inclusive means not only seeing clearly who is not in front of us, but welcoming the parts and pieces of ourselves that lurk in the shadows.
