    In the mid-1800s, tuberculosis was the leading cause of death in the United States and Canada. It was highly contagious, incurable, and affected people of all ages and backgrounds. One woman’s desire to help the poor and sick grew into a nationally recognized hospital for indigent tuberculosis sufferers, and its Respiratory Care Clinic is treating COVID-19 patients today.
