What is conscience? If conscience is an “inner voice” that speaks to us when we are about to make a mistake, where does that voice come from? Some refer to conscience as the “voice of God.” But what if we do not believe in God? Where does the voice of conscience come from for non-believers? Is conscience the same for believers and non-believers? What do people in other cultures hear when this voice speaks? Is it the same voice everywhere in the world? If it is different is it possible that what is morally “good” in one culture is actually morally “bad” in another? If so, what happens when two people with different consciences meet?
